For some time, the 800 Jews in Hebron lived in peace with their tens of thousands of Arab neighbors. But on the night of August 23, 1929, the tension simmering within this cauldron of nationalities bubbled over, and for 3 days, Hebron turned into a city of terror and murder. By the time the massacres ended, 67 Jews lay dead and the survivors were relocated to Jerusalem, leaving Hebron barren of Jews for the first time in hundreds of years.

The summer of 1929 was one of unrest in Palestine. Jewish-Arab tensions were spurred on by the agitation of the mufti in Jerusalem. Just one day prior to the start of the Hebron massacre, three Jews and three Arabs were killed in Jerusalem when fighting broke out after a Muslim prayer service on the Temple Mount. Arabs spread false rumors throughout their communities, saying that Jews were carrying out "wholesale killings of Arabs." Meanwhile, Jewish immigrants were arriving in Palestine in increasing numbers, further exacerbating the Jewish-Arab conflict.

Hebron had, until this time, been outwardly peaceful, although tension hid below the surface. The Sephardi Jewish community in Hebron had lived quietly with its Arab neighbors for centuries. The Sephardi Jews (Jews who were originally from Spain, North Africa and Arab countries) spoke Arabic and had a cultural connection to their Arab neighbors. In the mid-1800s, Ashkenazi (native European) Jews started moving to Hebron and, in 1925, the Slobodka Yeshiva, officially the Yeshiva of Hevron, Knesset Yisrael-Slobodka, was opened. Yeshiva students lived separately from the Sephardi community, and from the Arab population. Due to this isolation, the Arabs viewed them with suspicion and hatred, and identified them as Zionist immigrants. Despite the general suspicion, however, one yeshiva student, Dov Cohen, still recalled being on "very good" terms with the Arab neighbors. He remembered yeshiva boys taking long walks late at night on the outskirts of the city, and not feeling afraid, even though only one British policeman guarded the entire city.

On Friday, August 23, 1929, that tranquility was lost. Arab youths started throwing rocks at the yeshiva students. That afternoon, one student, Shmuel Rosenholtz, went to the yeshiva alone. Arab rioters later broke in and killed him, and that was only the beginning.

Friday night, Rabbi Ya’acov Slonim’s son invited any fearful Jews to stay in his house. The rabbi was highly regarded in the community, and he had a gun. Many Jews took him up on this offer, and many Jews were eventually murdered there.

As early as 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath, Arabs began to gather en masse. They came in mobs, armed with clubs, knives and axes. While the women and children threw stones, the men ransacked Jewish houses and destroyed Jewish property. With only a single police officer in Hebron, the Arabs entered Jewish courtyards with no opposition.

Rabbi Slonim, who had tried to shelter the Jewish population, was approached by the rioters and offered a deal. If all the Ashkenazi yeshiva students were given over to the Arabs, the rioters would spare the lives of the Sephardi community. Rabbi Slonim refused to turn over the students and was killed on the spot. In the end, 12 Sephardi Jews and 55 Ashkenazi Jews were murdered.

A few Arabs did try to help the Jews. Nineteen Arab families saved dozens, maybe even hundreds of Jews. Zmira Mani wrote about an Arab named Abu Id Zaitoun who brought his brother and son to rescue her and her family. The Arab family protected the Manis with their swords, hid them in a cellar along with other Jews who they had saved, and found a policeman to escort them safely to the police station at Beit Romano.

The police station turned into a shelter for the Jews that morning of August 24. It also became a synagogue as the Orthodox Jews gathered there and said their morning prayers. As they finished praying, they began to hear noises outside the building. Thousands of Arabs descended from Har Hebron, shouting "Kill the Jews!" in Arabic. They even tried to break down the doors of the station.

The Jews were besieged in Beit Romano for three days. Each night, ten men were allowed to leave to attend a funeral in Hebron’s ancient Jewish cemetery for the murdered Jews of the day.

When the massacre finally ended, the surviving Jews were forced to leave their home city and resettled in Jerusalem. Some Jewish families tried to move back to Hebron, but were removed by the British authorities in 1936 at the start of the Arab revolt. In 1948, the War of Independence granted Israel statehood, but further cut the Jews off from Hebron, a city that was captured by King Abdullah's Arab Legion and ultimately annexed to Jordan.

When Jews finally gained control of the city in 1967, a small number of massacre survivors again tried to reclaim their old houses. Then defense minister Moshe Dayan supposedly told the survivors that if they returned, they would be arrested, and that they should be patient while the government worked out a solution to get their houses back. Years later, settlers moved to parts of Hebron without the permission of the government, but for those massacre survivors still seeking their original homes, that solution never came.

(Israel Hayom/Exclusive to JNS.org) The Israel Defense Forces Civil Administration on Monday ordered the Palestinian Electrical Company to remove a Swastika flag that had been hung on one of its electric wires in the Palestinian village of Beit Ummar.

A photograph of the Swastika flag was taken by the Tazpit News Agency, which brought it to the attention of the IDF. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed that the flag had been hung on an electrical line in the village and will be removed.

Beit Ummar is situated on the road between Gush Etzion and Hebron in Judea and Samaria. Palestinians clashed with IDF soldiers in Beit Ummar over the weekend, with eight Palestinians injured in the incident, the Palestinian Maan News Agencyreported.

Obama Adviser Wants Syrian ‘Resistance’ to Israel

As reported on Jihad Watch this week, an adviser to PresidentObama has tweeted a criticism of President Bashar Assad of Syria for not being able to mount enough “resistance” to Israel. In the Arab and Middle Eastern context resistance is, of course, a codeword for terrorism and war.

The adviser is Dalia Mogahed. Yet another example of the strange company Obama has kept and continues to keep, he appointed her to serve on the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. On March 10 she tweeted on her Twitter account:

To those siding w/Assad: he cannot deliver stability, protection of minorities, or resistance to Israel. He is a killer w/o legitimacy.

It wasn’t Mogahed’s first venture in radicalism. Two years ago she advocated Sharia law on British TV, saying it provided “gender justice” even though, as Robert Spencer noted at the time, Sharia prescribes wife-beating, permits taking the vows with prepubescent girls, and discriminates against women in matters of testimony, inheritance, marriage and divorce.

Indeed, the show was hosted by a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir—banned as a terrorist organization by many countries—and included two Hizb ut-Tahrir guests who denounced Western society and called to make Sharia “the source of legislation.” Hizb ut-Tahrir’s alumni include 9/11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Jordanian jihadist Abu Musab Zarqawi, killed by U.S. forces in Iraq in 2006.

Mogahed was also coauthor with John Esposito of Who Speaks For Islam?: What a Billion Muslims Really Think—a book whose blatant distortions of poll data were exposed by Robert Satloff among others. Arabian Business magazine has named Mogahed one of the Arab world’s most influential women.

And what of her take on Assad? Does he indeed come up short on “resistance to Israel”?

In fact, since becoming president in 2000, Bashar has continued his father Hafez Assad’s policy of making Damascus a headquarters for Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other anti-Israeli terror groups. It was in Damascus that—in a move many attribute to Israel—Hizbullah arch-terrorist Imad Mughniyeh was assassinated in February 2008. Under Bashar, Syria has continued its role as weapons-conduit from Iran to Hizbullah in Lebanon.

It’s only recently that Hamas—with Bashar’s largely-Alawite forces killing many of Hamas’s Syrian Sunni compatriots—appears to have left Syria. But Palestinian Islamic Jihad remains based in Damascus, and with Iranian and Syrian encouragement and assistance played the major role in last week’s bombardment of southern Israel from Gaza.

Seemingly, then, Bashar’s credentials on “resistance to Israel” aren’t bad.

Prelude to WAR

As World War 3 approaches and  Obama brings the troops home from the Middle East only to deploy them back soon. Obama's plan is to allow the troops to spend the Holidays with their  families and love ones . World War 3 will not only be on the shores of Iran but in the theater  of the USA. This President that was supposed to be a non violent President. He turns out to be the most War Like President with his "do nothing" approach. He has caused disruption in the Middle east by supporting the Terrorist group the Muslim Brotherhood.

While people including the Tea Party who focus on who in the government "are responsible" without a solution , who bitch and moan without a plan on how to save America have apparently fell blindly into the hands of a Neo Nazi who called into their TeaParty.org radio show last night. This Neo Nazi began slowly dragging them into a turmoil  of hate.  He  repeatedly stated the everything is owned by the banks and Wall Street. He claimed that everyone who works on Wall Street is Jewish and then said he knows because he worked on Wall Street. To make that claim he has to be Jewish since he worked there also.
He said Wall street is known as the Jewish Mafia. I personally don't believe this man ever worked on Wall Street or if he did  was fired from his position in the mail room or  maybe  a janitor from how he spoke. He claimed he worked on wall street but didn't say which company or what he did. I say he's a liar! With his handle of the English Language you can hear his Neo Nazi training from the various American National  Socialist sites and videos they use and this was a set up. There is  handful of Jews that are in high positions but it seems they refer to Golden Sacks a Jewish Firm to be the only firm on Wall Street when there is Legg Mason  CEO Mark Fetting  not Jewish, Smith Barney Morgan with James P Gorman and Gregg Fleming not Jewish, McKinsey & Company, Inc has Dominic "Dom" Barton not Jewish. There are many other Management firms on Wall Street but the name Golden Sacks keeps coming up.

I personally lost money investing in  Alex Brown Security Management company and they were a non Jewish German company . So how can anyone say that Wall Street is all Jewish. Unless they want to spread lies like the Nazis did in Germany before WW2.

Yet there are many religions who work on Wall Street and are guilty of  inside trading which Martha Steward was involved in ENRON. When Chairman of Enron Ken Lay,  CEO of Enron  Jeff Skilling, Martha Stewart Billionaire and TV Hostess, Randy Cunningham Congressman, John Edwards Senator, etc. were in corruption scandals  , no one asked what religion or denomination they were.  When Ivan Boesky or Andrew Fastow or Bernie Madoff committed fraud, almost every article mentioned they were Jewish. So to prove this Tom (Neo Nazi who called the TeaParty.org radio show)  wrong why doesn't he mention that 


When the People are angry they join the hate groups which are the KKK, Nazi, Muslim etc etc etc and by joining them  causes  destruction of society and humanity in the name of Religion. Religion this is a Christian Country I keep hearing and no one can live here unless they are Christian. Muslims  in a Islamic Country and no one can live there except  Muslims. Now lets take Israel which is a Jewish Country and no one can live there because they are Jews and must give up their country. In fact Christians won't even let it be a Jewish Country because of their claim to Jesus who was a Jew.

He has been verbally attacking me for over 6 months . He  a member of the Tea Party .org  He left the Republican party to become a member of the Libertarian party He wants ME to apologies to him for  attacking me verbally and like Israel it was my fault I defended myself and his last comment was YOU LOOK LIKE A JEW!

If you want to show who is to blame for all this, the problems of America . It is a a combination of many things and not just one group of people. In fact we are all to blame. When the good times were here  we had a false sense of security and we didn't watch the Junk Bonds for the Mortgages, we didnt watch the spending why? Because? we were content spending money and enjoying life. We bought things we didn't need. We didn't save. We gave our children everything they dreamed of and when it was time to finally say wait we can not afford these luxuries and we are behind in the Mortgage because the Balloon Mortgage began to raise!And  who was blamed the Jews who own the banks and who own the Federal Reserve according to the Nazi Finger Pointers. These were junk bonds and mortgages YOU didn't investigate nor did the government.

In fact Hitler and the Nazis copied the Turks in the same methods of forced transports, starvation and concentration camps. The only addition the Nazis did was to invent the Gas chambers. No major power has held Turkey accountable for these atrocities. The media and our governments of the West are not paying attention or if they are they are not acting against Turkey. History is about to repeat and Israel is in the cross hairs. It is the early to mid 1930s again, within next 3 -7 years we will witness a repeated effort to destroy Israel and advance to an attempted destruction of Israel/Jews like the 1940s. Slaughter: By the time Hitler's men had left the Greek village of Distomo, 218 men, women and children were dead

The SS indulged their bloodlust on men, women and children alike. While homes and shops blazed around them like some hellish inferno, women were violated and those who were pregnant were stabbed in the guts. Small babies were bayoneted in their cribs. The village priest was beheaded. 

By the time Hitler’s men had left the Greek village of Distomo near the ancient town of Delphi on that bloody day in June 1944, 218 people were dead. 

The Waffen-SS was pleased with its work: the local partisans who had dared to attack a German unit had been taught a bitter lesson in revenge.

The slaughter at Distomo was such an outrage that, in 2003, even a German Federal Court judge described it as ‘one of the most despicable crimes of World War II’. But he refused to grant the families of the victims any compensation for their suffering, and not a single German soldier was ever punished for what he and his comrades had done.

The Distomo massacre is just one example of the terrible suffering endured by the people of Greece during World War II and, some would say, of the German government’s reluctance to pay for the crimes committed against the Greeks in their nation’s name.

Destitute

Countless other villages could tell of similar atrocities. Some 60,000 Greek Jews — more than three-quarters of the nation’s Jewish population — were rounded up and sent to their deaths in the gas chambers of Auschwitz and Treblinka.

Yet, neither the massacres of villagers nor the ethnic cleansing of the Jews was the deadliest of torments inflicted on Greece. For the worst Nazi war crimes of all were essentially economic. 

Hitler’s troops helped themselves to everything, stealing goods and food to such a degree that hundreds of thousands of Greeks were left destitute and starving. At least 300,000 Greeks died as a result.

Legacy: The worst Nazi war crimes of all were essentially economic

Hitler’s men even raided the Greeks’ central bank, forcing them to give Germany a massive ‘war loan’ — one that has never been paid back, more of which later. Economists estimate that if it were repaid today, it could cost the German government £60billion. The memory of that travesty has been reignited this week by Greeks angry at the austerity measures being imposed on them — primarily by Germany as it seeks to stop the euro crisis spinning out of control.

Greeks are now comparing the current German government to the Nazis who once occupied them.

A year into World War II, the Greeks had managed to stay clear of the conflict that had engulfed the rest of Europe. Hitler was not interested in Greece: he had bigger fish to fry.

But one man was spoiling for a fight. Benito Mussolini, the fascist dictator of Italy, was desperate to show Hitler that he, too, could launch a blitzkrieg. 

And so, in October 1940 the Italians attacked Greece. They made some gains at first, but were soon driven back to where they had started. In March 1941, the Italians mounted another attack, but this was a total failure.

It was at this point that Hitler lost patience with his incompetent ally and intervened. He ordered the all-conquering German forces to sweep down through Yugoslavia and then overrun Greece. By early May 1941, Greece was under German control.

The Nazis set about treating Greece the same way they did their other conquests: as a fiefdom to be abused and exploited. 

As historian Roger Moorhouse, author of Berlin At War and an expert on wartime Germany, explains: ‘The Nazis systematically stripped Occupied Europe of everything it had. 

‘They were desperate to keep the Home Front onside. The spectre of starvation in Germany, and the loss of support for the war that had caused it, loomed large in their minds and it was something they wanted to avoid.

‘So they took honey from Greece, wheat from the Ukraine, wine and Cognac from France, bacon from Denmark and so forth. Whether you got compensated depended on your race.

‘In France, whose people were considered civilised, the chances were you might get paid for your produce, albeit at a very disadvantageous rate. If you were a Ukrainian, and thus a subhuman Slav, it would simply be confiscated. The Greeks were southern nobodies in Nazi eyes.’

As a result, Greek businesses, property and goods, including olive oil, leather, tobacco and cotton, were either seized outright or bought with a new, near-worthless currency called ‘Occupation Marks’. 

To make matters worse, the Royal Navy mounted a blockade of Greece, resulting in a terrible shortage of food, especially in the big cities. By the end of 1941, the Red Cross estimated that 400 people a day were dying from starvation in Athens alone.

Indifference

The Germans responded to this gathering humanitarian disaster with indifference. Hitler’s henchman Hermann Goering, whose love of fine food had left him morbidly obese, told the leaders of Germany’s occupied territories: ‘I could not care less when you say that people under your administration are dying of hunger. Let them perish, so long as no German starves.’

The Greeks have not forgotten what they call The Great Famine. Nor has what one might call The Great Theft slipped their minds either. Because the Germans didn’t just wreck the Greek economy, seize its products and starve its people. They took its money, too.

In February last year, the Greek Deputy Prime Minister Theodoros Pangalos fumed: ‘The Germans took away Greek money and never gave it back.’

It was Nazi policy to make the people they conquered pay for their own oppression. At its most obscene, the Jews had to pay for their tickets on the cattle trucks that took them to the gas chambers. In Greece, the procedure was marginally more civilised.

On March 14, 1942, a team of German and Italian lawyers, in the absence of any Greeks, signed an agreement obliging the Bank of Greece to provide Germany with a ‘war loan’ of 476 million Reichsmarks (a currency which preceded the Deutschmark). And 70 years later not one penny of it, let alone any interest, has been repaid.

Economists (German ones, as it happens) have calculated that, allowing purely for inflation, Greece’s 1942 loan to Germany would today be worth £9bn. But if one adds even a modest rate of interest of 3 per cent, then that debt increases to a staggering £60bn. 

That would be enough to cover Greece’s fiscal deficit for the next five years, giving the country time to restructure its economy and put government finances on a more sustainable footing.

And it’s not as if Germany couldn’t afford to pay up. The Bundesbank has more than 3,500 tons of gold in its vaults, worth over £200bn. But does it owe any of that to Greece?

Neither the German Embassy nor the German government are willing to comment on the issue. But the Greeks have no doubt where the truth lies.

In the words of a spokesman at the Greek Embassy in London: ‘There was a loan, and we have still not got anything back from Germany. The Germans deny it. They say: “We have helped you with reparations.” 
‘But those were nothing compared with this sum. There have been reparations to individuals, but not to Greece itself. Every other country in Europe had reparations apart from Greece. It’s not fair to say Greeks should die for free.’

In Greek eyes, the Germans are lucky that the sum at issue is only £60bn. They point to a finding made at the 1945 Paris Conference on Reparations that Greece should receive compensation from Germany equivalent to more than £90bn today. 

The Greek government, however, has never raised this issue when negotiating with the EU over the Greek debt crisis. 

Coercion

Prime Minister George Papandreou says: ‘It would be easy for people with bad faith to interpret this as a sign of weakness, that we are looking for an alibi to shirk our responsibilities.’

So could the Greeks take the German government to court to get their money back? 

According to City lawyer Graham Defries: ‘In principle, there’s no reason why one can’t pursue an action of this kind. Debt doesn’t just get extinguished.

‘In international finance, the concept of an interest-free loan doesn’t exist, and it can’t legitimately be described as a loan if the money was obtained by coercion. So it’s a crime, and therefore not covered by previous reparations.’

In other words, the German government may have a moral duty to give the Greeks their money back. It might even have an economic interest in doing so — since a Greek default would cost the German economy far more than £60bn.
