One country, two religions and three very telling pictures: The empty pews at churches just yards from an overcrowded mosque

 Set aside the fact that our Queen is the Defender of the Christian Faith. Ignore the 26 Church of England bishops who sit in the House of Lords. 

Pay no attention to the 2011 Census that told us 33.2 million people in England and Wales describe themselves as Christians.

For if you want a more telling insight into religion in the United Kingdom today, just look at these photographs. The story they tell is more revealing than any survey.

What they show are three acts of worship performed in the East End of London within a few hundred yards of each other at the end of last month. 

Two of the photos show Sunday morning services in the churches of St George-in-the-East on Cannon Street Road, and St Mary’s on Cable Street. 

 

The third shows worshippers gathered for Friday midday prayers outside the nearby mosque on the Brune Street Estate in Spitalfields.

The difference in numbers could hardly be more dramatic. At St George’s, some 12 people have congregated to celebrate Holy Communion.

When the church was built in the early 18th century, it was designed to seat 1,230.

Numbers are similar at St Mary’s, opened in October 1849. Then, it could boast a congregation of 1,000. Today, as shown in the picture, the worshippers total just 20.

While the two churches are nearly empty, the Brune Street Estate mosque has a different problem — overcrowding. 

The mosque itself is little more than a small room rented in a  community centre, and it can hold only 100.

However, on Fridays, those numbers swell to three to four times the room’s capacity, so the worshippers spill out onto the street, where they take up around the same amount of space as the size of the near-empty St Mary’s down the road.

What these pictures suggest is that, on current trends, Christianity in this country is becoming a religion of the past, and Islam is one of the future. 

In the past ten years, there has been a decrease in people in England and Wales identifying as Christian, from 71.7 per cent to 59.3 per cent of the population. 

In the same period the number of Muslims in England and Wales has risen from 3 per cent of the population to 4.8 per cent — 2.7 million people.

And Islam has age on its side. Whereas a half of British Muslims are under 25, almost a quarter of Christians are approaching their eighth decade. 

It is estimated that in just 20 years, there will be more active Muslims in this country than churchgoers — an idea which even half a century ago would have been utterly unthinkable.

Many will conclude with a heavy heart that Christianity faces a permanent decline in Britain, its increasingly empty churches a monument to those centuries when the teachings of Christ governed the thoughts and deeds of the masses.

On Sunday October 1, 1738, St George’s was packed twice during the day to hear the great evangelist John Wesley, who then preached at the church for the following week explaining, as he put it, ‘the way of salvation to many who misunderstood what had been preached concerning it’.

Today, there are no John Wesleys to fill up the pews. The church does its best, offering, for example, a monthly ‘Hot Potato Sunday’, during which the few congregants can discuss the  readings of the day over a baked potato.

Canon Michael Ainsworth of St George’s puts on a brave face when he says: ‘What we are  saying now is it is not just a matter of numbers. It is about keeping faith with the city and hanging in there — being part of the community.’

At St Mary’s, meanwhile, Rev Peter McGeary cannot explain why the numbers are so low: ‘It’s impossible to say, there are so many variables.’ 

When he is asked if he tries to boost his congregations, he simply replies: ‘We are not a company, we are a church.’

In contrast, there seems a remarkable energy attached to the mosque on Brune Street, which has been described as the ‘Mecca of the City’.

Here, come rain or shine, members of the  Bangladeshi community perform the Friday prayer of Jumma under the open sky. It is a communal act which will surely only grow in popularity.

Sadly, that’s not something that can be said of the two nearby churches, and unless they can reinvigorate their congregations they may finally end up being deconsecrated.

When that happens, such large buildings will be attractive spaces for those who can fill them. 

One day, in a few decades, St George’s may well again be packed with worshippers — but they will not be Christians.

The Muslim Students Association was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization committed to "the globalization of Islam through social engineering and violent jihad." More than a dozen former MSA leaders and members have been convicted of terrorist activities and plots, including UC Davis graduate Hasan Akbar, who is awaiting execution for murdering U.S. soldiers in a terrorist attack in Kuwait. The younger Boston marathon bomber attended MSA meetings at his University of Massachusetts campus. Students for Justice in Palestine accuse Israel of sponsoring concentration camps and running an apartheid state, two contemporary forms of antisemitism condemned by the U.S. State Department and the Europeans. Their rallies have included surrounding Jewish students and shouting, "Too bad Hitler didn't finish the job!" Their national conferences have been paid for by Hamas front groups and included speakers later arrested as terrorists. Only one professor in the entire University of California so far has had the intestinal fortitude to speak out about the growing jihadi harassment of Jewish students on campus, a beloved part-time professor of Hebrew at U.C. Santa Cruz, Tammi Benjamin, who has appeared often in AT articles. After the Civil Rights law was re-interpreted to include Jews in 2010, Tammi Benjamin made history by successfully applying for the federal Office of Civil Rights to investigation the hostile environment for Jews at UC Santa Cruz. If she wins, it will be first time the Civil Rights law is applied to antisemitism. Tammi writes: I have received hateful, antisemitic email accusing Jews of being "the cause of global financial and political unrest," "barbaric," "evil," and "today's Nazis"; in these situations things often turn violent, such as recently when a large group of students, including several SJP members, illegally "occupied" a UC Davis administration building, which resulted in the protesters committing assault and battery against students with dissenting views. Her students love her: Tammi is AMAZING. I've taken dozens of language classes in my life, and Tammi is hands down one of the greatest teacher's I've ever had. Her lesson plans are great, the course is thorough, and she is dedicated to helping you learn AND get a good grade. You'd have to honestly try to do badly in her classes. Wonderful person, wonderful teacher. Tammi is reaching beyond the academic community, and has taken to the road, talking at synagogues and Hadassah meetings to warn American Jews that their children are being targeted on the front lines of the jihadi war against the west. It looks a lot like the Committee for Justice in Palestine (CJP) and members of affiliated Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) have decided to make Tammi Benjamin an example of what happens to uppity Jews. She is an easy target, since she is without tenure protection by the University. As Tammi describes in a letter to the president of UC published this week on the website of her organization, the AMCHA Initiative, she is being harassed mercilessly for having exercised her free speech off campus. There is an on-line petition accusing her of racism and calling for her condemnation by the President of the entire California university system. The campus is pasted with flyers attacking Tammi for hate speech. A dozen videos on YouTube characterize her as "hateful," "dangerous," and "Islamaphobic." Students for Justice in Palestine members are instructed to fill out hate/bias reports on her on their campuses. She has been condemned by the student senates of UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, and UC Irvine. And most intimidating to Tammi, this campaign of vilification has been passed along to groups sympathetic to terrorists such as the International Solidarity Movement, and associated websites, the Electronic Intifada and Mondoweiss. Tammi has been pleading with her Chancellor at UC Santa Cruz to apply university rules to safeguard her basic safety, which she feels is threatened. She calls on the UC administrators to protect her guaranteed university rights, as they were quick to do when there were allegations of hate speech against student Republicans and a student TV station. Hate speech by Moslems should not be in a special tolerated category. Does Tammi really need to explain that her right to free speech is meaningless if the university accepts this level of intimidation? The actions of the anti-Israel groups will punish her and make sure other students and teachers will be too scared to speak out in her defense, or in defense of Israel and Jews. A wave of violent antisemitism already is sweeping many of Europe's cities, but America is on the way to catching up, if Tammi is fair game in the eyes of the UC administration. It's so bad at Santa Cruz that Tammi has not one other person to watch her back, and neither do the Jewish students she is trying to protect. It seems there is no moral leadership to be found in the entire university system. With each new terror attack in America, academic communities circle round the antisemitic Muslim and pro-Palestinian groups they harbor on campus. They cry Islamophobia, while most of the actual hate crimes target Jews. In her letter to President Yudof, Tammi detailed clearly antisemitic actions tolerated on UC campuses, which are illegal by university rules. At an SJP rally at UCB in 2002, UCB Lecturer Hatem Bazian, then a graduate student and co-founder of the first SJP chapter in America, told a large crowd, "Take a look at the type of names on the buildings around campus -- Haas, Zellerbach -- and decide who controls this university." Former Nation of Islam member Imam Abdul Malik Ali, a frequent speaker on many UC campuses, has railed against the "disproportionate numbers of Jews, Zionist Jews, in the media, in finance and foreign policy." At an MSU-sponsored speech at UCI in 2001, Imam Mohammed Al-Asi said: "We have a psychosis in the Jewish community that is unable to co-exist equally and brotherly with other human beings. You can take a Jew out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the Jew". Al-Asi also actively promotes the lie that Jews were behind the 9-11 attack, stating: "Where were the 4,000 to 5,000 Israeli Jews that were supposed to be in those two buildings on the 11th... Did they know something we didn't know?" Imam Abdul Alim Musa, a frequent speaker for the MSU at UCI, sells at some of his events copies of an antisemitic book, The Ascendant Qur'an, which blames Jews for conspiring against Islam. Musa maintains contact with virulently antisemitic groups such as Jamaat al-Muslimeen, which promotes Holocaust denial and anti-Jewish conspiracy theories. She summarizes: As a result of the hostile environment created by these chapters and their members, Jewish students have reported feeling physically unsafe, harassed, and intimidated while on campus, and some have even reported leaving the university, avoiding certain parts of campus, and hiding symbols of their Jewishness. Students can be pro-Palestinian without resorting to physically confrontational, disruptive, and virulently aggressive behavior and it is this behavior, which continues to escalate, that deeply concerns me. Expressing support for the Palestinians is not the same as chanting "Death to Jews!" "Death to Israel"...O Jews, the army of Mohammed is coming for you," or holding banners that read "Death to Zionism" and "Long Live the Intifada." In this last statement to the University President, Tammi Benjamin is being diplomatic. In reality, there are no pro-Palestinian or Muslim student organizations that promote peace and tolerance. 4 Stages of Islamic Conquest.

STAGE 1: INFILTRATION

Muslims begin moving to non-Muslim countries in increasing numbers and the beginning of cultural conflicts are visible, though often subtle.

• First migration wave to non-Muslim “host” country.
• Appeal for humanitarian tolerance from the host society.
• Attempts to portray Islam as a peaceful & Muslims as victims of misunderstanding and racism (even though Islam is not a ‘race’).
• High Muslim birth rate in host country increase Muslim population.
• Mosques used to spread Islam and dislike of host country & culture.
• Calls to criminalize “Islamophobia” as a hate crime.
• Threatened legal action for perceived discrimination.
• Offers of “interfaith dialogue” to indoctrinate non-Muslims.

How many nations are suffering from Islamic infiltration? One? A handful? Nearly every nation? The Islamic ‘leadership” of the Muslim Brotherhood and others wish to dissolve each nation’s sovereignty and replace it with the global imposition of Islamic sharia law. Sharia law, based on the koran, sira and hadith, condemns liberty and forbids equality and is inconsistent with the laws of all Western nations. As the author and historian Serge Trifkovic states:
“The refusal of the Western elite class to protect their nations from jihadist infiltration is the biggest betrayal in history.”

STAGE 2: CONSOLIDATION OF POWER
Muslim immigrants and host country converts continue demands for accommodation in employment, education, social services, financing and courts.

• Proselytizing increases; Establishment and Recruitment of Jihadi cells.
• Efforts to convert alienated segments of the population to Islam.
• Revisionist efforts to Islamize history.
• Efforts to destroy historic evidence that reveal true Islamism.
• Increased anti-western propaganda and psychological warfare.
• Efforts to recruit allies who share similar goals (communists, anarchists).
• Attempts to indoctrinate children to Islamist viewpoint.
• Increased efforts to intimidate, silence and eliminate non-Muslims.
• Efforts to introduce blasphemy and hate laws in order to silence critics.
• Continued focus on enlarging Muslim population by increasing Muslim births and immigration.
• Use of charities to recruit supporters and fund jihad.
• Covert efforts to bring about the destruction of host society from within.
• Development of Muslim political base in non-Muslim host society.
• Islamic Financial networks fund political growth, acquisition of land.
• Highly visible assassination of critics aimed to intimidate opposition.
• Tolerance of non-Muslims diminishes.
• Greater demands to adopt strict Islamic conduct.
• Clandestine amassing of weapons and explosives in hidden locations.
• Overt disregard/rejection of non-Muslim society’s legal system, culture.
• Efforts to undermine and destroy power base of non-Muslim religions including and especially Jews and Christians.

Is there a pattern here? Theo van Gogh is murdered in the Netherlands for ‘insulting’ Islam; the Organization of the Islamic Conference demands ‘anti-blasphemy’ laws through the United Nations; France is set afire regularly by ‘youths’ (read Muslims); the rise of (dis-) honor killings…holocaust denial…anti-Semitism…deception re the tenets of Islam; hatred toward Christians and Jews and Hindus and Buddhists. The pattern for all to see is the rise of Islamic intolerance and the covert/cultural jihad to remake host societies into sharia-compliant worlds – to remove host sovereignty and replace it with Islamic sharia law. Sharia law that condemns earthly liberty and individual freedom, that forbids equality among faiths and between the sexes, that rejects the concept of nations outside the global house of Islam, that of dar al-Islam.

STAGE 3: OPEN WAR w/ LEADERSHIP & CULTURE
Open violence to impose Sharia law and associated cultural restrictions; rejection of host government, subjugation of other religions and customs.

• Intentional efforts to undermine the host government & culture.
• Acts of barbarity to intimidate citizens and foster fear and submission.
• Open and covert efforts to cause economic collapse of the society.
• All opposition is challenged and either eradicated or silenced.
• Mass execution of non-Muslims.
• Widespread ethnic cleansing by Islamic militias.
• Rejection and defiance of host society secular laws or culture.
• Murder of “moderate” Muslim intellectuals who don’t support Islamization.
• Destruction of churches, synagogues and other non-Muslim institutions.
• Women are restricted further in accordance with Sharia law.
• Large-scale destruction of population, assassinations, bombings.
• Toppling of government and usurpation of political power.
• Imposition of Sharia law

The website www.thereligionofpeace.com keeps track of the number of violent jihad attacks as best it can. The site lists more than 14,000 attacks since September 2001. It is worth a visit. What is occurring, however, that is likely inestimable are events where muslims are bullied by other muslims for not being “muslim enough,” where non-Muslims are intimidated into doing or not doing what they desire, where remnant populations are in a death spiral simply for being non-muslim in a predominantly muslim area. Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists Animists and Atheists meet with death, property destruction or confiscation, forced conversion, rape, excessive taxation (the jizya), enslavement, riotous mobs and various other forms of islam (in-) justice at the hands of muslims in Sudan, Philippines, Kenya, Malaysia, India, etc. And let us not forget ‘death to Apostates’ the world over.

STAGE 4: Totalitarian ISLAMIC “THEOCRACY”
Islam becomes the only religious-political-judicial-cultural ideology.

• Sharia becomes the “law of the land.
• All non-Islamic human rights cancelled.
• Enslavement and genocide of non-Muslim population.
• Freedom of speech and the press eradicated.
• All religions other than Islam are forbidden and destroyed.
• Destruction of all evidence of non-Muslim culture, populations and symbols in country (Buddhas, houses of worship, art, etc).

The House of Islam (“peace”), dar al-Islam, includes those nations that have submitted to Islamic rule, to the soul crushing, liberty-condemning, discriminatory law of Sharia. The rest of the world in in the House of War, dar al-harb, because it does not submit to Sharia, and exists in a state of rebellion or war with the will of ‘Allah.’ No non-Muslim state or its citizens are “innocent,” and remain viable targets of war for not believing in ‘Allah.’ The Christian, Jewish, Coptic, Hindu and Zoroastrian peoples of world have suffered under subjugation for centuries. The Dhimmi-esque are forbidden to construct houses of worship or repair existing ones, economically crippled by the heavy jizya (tax), socially humiliated, legally discriminated against, criminally targeted and generally kept in a permanent state of weakness, fear and vulnerability by Islamic governments.

It should be noted that forced conversions (Egypt) and slavery (Sudan) are still reported. Homosexuals have been hung in the public square in Iran. Young girls are married to old men. Apostates are threatened with death. “Honor” killings are routine. Women are legally second-class citizens, though Muslim males insist they are “treated better” than in the West. These more obvious manifestations may distract from some less obvious ones such as the lack of intellectual inquiry in science, narrow scope of writing, all but non-existent art and music, sexual use and abuse of youth and women, and the disregard for personal fulfillment, joy and wonder. Look into the eyes of a recently married 12 year old girl to see the consequence of the moral deprivation spawned by Islam.

The Nuts and Bolts of Katherine O Russell Tsarnaev

It seems as though Katherine's friends or attorney's are trying to block any news about her through my IP address, But there are other channels I can find this Katherine O Russell Tsarnaev report. Now lets go over the facts.
1. Yesterday I was very confused on where the bombs were made, Because of the back pack of supplies it lead me to believe it was the brother's Dzhokhar apartment. But now it comes out it was Katherine's apartment. And she claims she knew nothing about this.
2. She called Tamerlan and told him the FBI was looking for him for the bombing But she knew nothing about him making the bombs while she lived in the apartment then packed up her kid and ran to her parents to make up a story.
I am wondering what kind of parent would allow fireworks in the house with a toddler yet alone bombs. 
3 She claims Tamerlan brain washed her. Did Tamerlan mother brain wash Katherine when she went shoplifting also? This brain wash thing does not hold water with me.
Katherine tell the real story. You bought the pressure cookers You were the only one working. You bought the fireworks, you bought the petroleum gel for the sealing of the pressure cooker, you bought nuts and bolts as well as beebees, Your not sorry. Your sorry you were caught. What difference if your child grows up without a father  There are parents who lost their children and a wife who lost her husband. People who lost their legs.
Your husband was killed by the hands of his own brother so go blame him for the death, I blame you for your hand and act in this. Your child regardless of where she grows up will be known as a child of the terrorist who bombed Boston.

Katherine Russell, the widow of Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, has stopped co-operating with authorities as it emerged female DNA found on one of the detonated bombs does not belong to her.

Tsarnaev, who was later killed in a gunfight with authorities, called his wife in the hours after the FBI released surveillance images of him and his younger brother, Dzhokhar.

But only Russell knows what was said in the conversation, as she has stopped cooperating with authorities over recent days, the New York Times reported.

Authorities are skeptical of her insistence that she played no role in the attack or in helping the brothers escape the authorities following the release of the photographs, the Times reported.

A source told CNN that the bombs were built in the apartment that Tsarnaev shared with Russell and their three-year-old daughter.

Her silence comes as sources told the newspaper that the fingerprints and female DNA found on at least one of the bombs did not belong to her. Authorities had taken a sample from her this week.

Spokesman Jason Pack confirmed that agents investigating the Boston bombings visited the North Kingstown home of Russell's parents, where Tsarnaev's widow has been staying since the attacks.

An official had revealed that female DNA was found on at least one of the bombs, although investigators haven't determined whose it is or whether it means a woman helped the two suspects.

Her lawyer says Russell denies any involvement in the bombings, but authorities are still working to establish what exactly she knew - if anything - before or after the April 15 attacks.

On Wednesday, attorney Amato DeLuca insisted Russell 'will continue to meet with law enforcement, as she has done for many hours over the past week, and provide as much assistance to the investigation as she can'.

Russell met Tamerlan while she was a student at Suffolk University, according to her lawyer. She converted to Islam and they married in 2010 before having a daughter, now three.

Her husband was killed on April 18 following a shoot out with police in Watertown. Investigators say his younger brother hit him with a car as he fled the scene.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was caught the following day as he was found hiding in a boat in a backyard.

Tsarnaev's cause of death could be released on Friday. The state medical examiner's office will go public with that information once the funeral home files a death certificate.

Russell, who has been living with her parents in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, learned this week that the medical examiner was ready to release his body and wanted it released to his family.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Terrel Harris said a funeral home retained by Tsarnaev's family picked up the remains. He said he had no more information about plans for the body.

Tsarnaev's uncle Ruslan Tsarni, of Maryland, said Tuesday night the family would take the body.

'Of course, family members will take possession of the body,' Tsarni said. 'We'll do it. We will do it. A family is a family.'

The April 15 bombing, using pressure cookers packed with explosives, nails, ball bearings and metal shards near the marathon's finish line, killed three people and injured more than 180 others.

Russell's attorneys have previously said she and her family were in shock when they learned of the allegations against her husband and brother-in-law, Dzhokhar.

 The family of the Boston bombing suspects has received more than $100,000 in welfare benefits over the last decade, according to the Boston Herald. 

Details of the benefits - which included cash, food stamps and housing assistance - are contained within more than 500 documents that were handed over from Massachusetts welfare officials to a committee of state lawmakers on Monday.

The documents have not been released publicly, but a person who has reviewed them told the Herald that the 'breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning.'

The Herald also spoke to Massachusetts Rep. David Linsky about the documents, who promised a thorough review of the assistance that the family received. 

'I can assure members of the public that this committee will actively review every single piece of information we can find because clearly the public has a substantial right to know what benefits, if any, this family or individuals accused of some horrific crimes were receiving,' said Linsky, the committee’s chairman.

It has been previously reported that deceased Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his wife Katherine relied on food stamps and public assistance from 2011 to 2012, soon after they became parents.

Last Friday, the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance detailed how the couple received food stamps from September 2011 to November 2012. 

The couple, who married in June 2010, are believed to have become parents to their daughter, Zahara, in 2011, in the months before they began receiving the aid.

In addition to food stamps, the young family also benefited from TAFDC (Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children), a program for low income parents with dependent children.

TAFDC is paid out twice a month and can be directly deposited into a recipient's bank account. 

The assistance was paid to Katherine, since a person must be a U.S. citizen, or eligible non-citizen, to receive the aid.

Oct. 2002 to Nov. 2004: Tsarnaev parents (Anzor and Zubeidat) received food stamps

Aug. 2009 to Dec. 2011: Tsarnaev parents (Anzor and Zubeidat) received food stamps

Sep. 2011 to Nov. 2012: Katherine Russell Tsarnaev received food stamps

Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children program (TAFDC): 

Jan. 2003 to March 2003: Tsarnaev parents (Anzor and Zubeidat) collected TAFDC money

Aug. 2009 to June 2010: Tsarnaev parents (Anzor and Zubeidat) collected TAFDC money

Sept. 2011 to Nov. 2012: Katherine Russell Tsarnaevcollected TAFDC money

While the couple took the government aid, the 24-year-old Rhode Island native would sometimes clock as many as 80 hours a week while her unemployed husband stayed at home.

Ultimately his wife's income made the couple ineligible for welfare and they stopped receiving state money in November 2012.

Welfare officials have been forced to divulge details of the aid that was paid out to the family of the bombing suspects.

Mass. Gov. Patrick Deval told state agencies last week that they should not discuss the details of what government assistance Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had received, citing privacy concerns.

Welfare information is not available for public release unless the person in question provides their consent, but it is available to lawmakers. 

Massachusetts State Rep. David Linsky called on the state's Department of Transitional Assistance to provide him with the information. 

Linksy issued an ultimatum on Thursday to welfare officials, giving them 24 hours to provide the information.

The letter from Rep. Linsky was provided to the Boston Herald.

'My office is working to fully comply with your request,' DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan wrote in his report to Rep. Linsky, saying they were only providing a summary 'given the great interest in this matter.'

In addition to the aid paid out to Tamerlan and his wife, both alleged bombers had benefited from welfare since their parents Anzor and Zubeidat Tsarnaev collected foodstamps and TAFDC - from 2002 to 2004 and again in 2009 to 2011.

Since the Tsarnaevs are Chechen immigrants, some wondered why they received aid. But the state agency explained that they were considered eligible for the public assistance. 

'The Tsarnaev parents were eligible to receive benefits as legal, non-citizen residents who were granted asylum status and met the basic eligibility criteria for DTA, including household income levels, presence of dependent children and other factors,' the DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan said in a letter addressed to David Linsky, Chairman of the House Post Audit and Oversight Committee.

The Herald had reported that sources who knew Tamerlan said that though he sported a flashy appearance, he failed to earn very much money for his family and was essentially a stay-at-home dad.

His younger brother, on the other hand, has been described as more entrepreneurial.

Dzhokhar, who was a sophomore at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, attended the school on a scholarship and earned petty cash selling marijuana, sources told the Boston Globe. 

Investigators are scrutinizing the brothers' source of income, as they probe whether the pair received outside assistance for their attack, either from a radical group or foreign government.

Security experts have noted though that the modus operandi was relatively cheap, estimating that the materials for each of the pressure cooker bombs used at the Boston Marathon attack could have cost a total of $100 each. 

Tamerlan, 26, died early on April 19 after a shoot-out with police in Watertown, Mass. His 19-year-old brother was captured late on April 19 after an extensive manhunt.
