1.The
leader of the Cairo Jewish community, Carmen Weinstein, has won her appeal
against allegations that she committed fraud. All charges against her have now
been dropped.
2. The Eliyahu Hanavi ancient synagogue in Damascus, which
dates back to 740 BCE, has been bombed. It is not clear how much of Syria's
Jewish heritage has survived the civil war.
3. The parents of murder
victim Moshe Nahari, gunned down in Yemen in 2008, have arrived in
Israel.
4. A film on the Jews of Egypt by Amir Ramses has been refused a
licence a day before it was due to go on general release in Egyptian
cinemas.

*Baghdad Mon Amour- a
celebration of Iraqi-Jewish literature
Tuesday 19 March. 7.30pm The launch of ‘Baghdad Mon Amour’, a
memoir by Shmuel Moreh, Emeritus Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at
the Hebrew University, is the focus of a lively evening celebrating Iraqi-Jewish
literature. Professor Moreh will discuss his memories of Baghdad, whose
serialisation on an Arabic website caused a sensation among Arab readers.
Professor Moreh will be joined by other members of the Association of Academics
from Iraq in Israel. We are also hoping that two non-Jewish Iraqi writers will
