RADICAL MUSLIM GROUP ATTACKS U.S. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JOE KAUFMAN IN LETTER TO ALLEN WEST
CAIR ASSOCIATED WITH TERRORIST ORGANIZATION HAMAS
Republican candidate for United States Congress, Joe Kaufman, who is running to unseat DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Florida’s District 20, has been included in an intimidation letter sent by a radical Muslim group to U.S. Congressman Allen West, calling on West to distance himself from a number of individuals referred to in the letter as “anti-Islam extremists.”
The letter was signed by Nezar Hamze and Hassan Shibly, the two leaders of the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). In 2007 and 2008, CAIR was named by the U.S. Justice Department as a co-conspirator for a terrorism trial dealing with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. CAIR was created by Hamas operatives in 1994, under the guidance of then-global head of Hamas, Mousa Abu Marzook. Recently the national organization lost its federal tax status.
The CAIR letter to West states, “Your association and continued support of Bridgette Gabriel, Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, Daniel Pipes, and Frank Gaffney are not consistent with your written words. These individuals have been identified as anti-Islam extremist [sic] that strategically participate in anti-Islam bashing and the grand infiltration narrative. You also have direct association with local extremist [sic] here in South Florida like Joyce Kaufman, Danita Kilcullen, Rev [O’]Neil Dozier, and Joe Kaufman.”
Joe Kaufman, who has been involved in the counter-terrorism field for the past ten years, stated, “I’m proud of my work exposing persons and groups connected to anti-American and terrorist activity. The extremist label that Hamze and Shibly have placed on me and others, in their letter addressed to Congressman West, is more appropriately shared by Hamze and Shibly themselves.”
Hamze, just two months ago, defended a mosque in Margate, Florida whose imam had just been arrested and charged with helping to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Taliban. Also in June, the Tampa Tribune reported Shibly as stating, “Hezbollah is basically a resistance movement supported by people in Lebanon… They’re absolutely not a terrorist organization.”
