KORAN commands to kill infidels:Lee Rigby pay emotional tribute to him

'We loved you so much, you didn't deserve this': Devastated family of murdered soldier Lee Rigby pay emotional tribute to him

  • Lee Rigby, 25, hit by car on the pavement before being brutally murdered
  • Drummer known as 'Riggers' was 'loving father' to two-year-old son Jack
  • His wife Rebecca revealed the estranged couple were getting back together
  • 'I love Lee and always will. He was a devoted father to Jack', she said
  • Lee's stepfather Ian movingly spoke on behalf of the Rigby family
  • He described how he saw the murder on TV and desperately tried to call Lee
  • 'We were attempting to get hold of Lee, obviously we couldn’t. It was the middle of the night when we got confirmed to us it was Lee,' he said
The bereft family of executed soldier Lee Rigby today described him as 'our hero' and said: 'We loved you so much, you didn’t deserve this'.
His estranged wife Rebecca, mother of his son Jack, two, revealed the former couple had agreed to meet this weekend to 'continue our future together as a family' before his life was brutally taken away in Woolwich on Wednesday.
Mrs Rigby burst into tears as she said she never dreamed that her husband might be killed in Britain, adding: 'You think they’re safe.'
Lee's stepfather Ian Rigby added: 'When in Afghanistan, you come to terms with it, you know it’s dangerous, you don’t expect something like that on your doorstep. It’s very difficult'.
He also sobbed as he described how he found out about the killing on TV and tried to contact his step-son immediately.
'Really as soon as it came on the news on television, obviously we didn’t know it was Lee but your heart skips a beat when you see something like that on TV, you know your son is in that area,' he said.
'As soon as it was on the telly we were attempting to get hold of Lee, obviously we couldn’t and it was the middle of the night probably when we got confirmed to us it was Lee.'
The family paid tribute during an emotional press conference at the Regimental HQ of his unit, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in Bury, Greater Manchester.
Machinegunner Rigby, who recently served in Afghanistan, was hacked to death in broad daylight by Islamist fanatics as he walked back to Woolwich Barracks in south-east London, where he was stationed.
Two men, Michael Adebowale, 22, and Michael Adebolajo, 28, are believed to have carried out the atrocity and are under arrest in separate London hospitals after being shot by armed police.
'I love Lee and always will. I am proud to be his wife and he was due to come up this weekend so we could continue our future together as a family,' his wife Rebecca said today.
'He was a devoted father to our son Jack and we will both miss him terribly.'

FINAL TEXT: MESSAGE LEE RIGBY SENT TO MUM ON EVE OF MURDER

Tragic soldier Lee Rigby's step-father Ian today read out the moving last message the soldier sent to his mother.
The Drummer, 25, texted Lyn Rigby as he was going to sleep on the eve of his murder in Woolwich.
He wrote ‘Goodnight mum, I hope you had a fantastic day today because you are the most fantastic and one in a million mum that anyone could ever wish for. Thank you for supporting me all these years, you’re not just my mum you’re my best friend. So goodnight, love you loads.'
Asked about the shock of the attack being on British soil, she added: 'You don’t expect it to happen when he’s in the UK.
Lee’s stepfather Ian read out a statement on behalf of and prepared by the whole family.
'What can we say about Lee, our hero, we are so so proud of Lee,' he said.
'When Lee was born the family adored him, he was a precious gift given to us.
'Lee had a fiery temper when he was younger, I used to sit on him to calm him down till he got too big at 15, then he used to sit on me.
'Lee’s dream growing up was always to join the army which he succeeded in doing, he was dedicated and loved his job.'
He also read Lee's last text to his mother Lyn, Ian's partner, sent on an evening before his death which said: 'Goodnight mum, I hope you had a fantastic day today because you are the most fantastic and one in a million mum that anyone could ever wish for.'

'Lee adored and cared a lot for his family, he was very much a family man, looking out for his wife, young son Jack, younger sisters, whom in turn they looked up to him, he always had a banter with them but would never ever let any harm come to them, ' he went on.
'He was over the moon being a dad and uncle, he adored them all.'
The soldier grew up on the sprawling Langley estate in Middleton, near Rochdale, and attended nearby Middleton Technology School.

His parents Lyn, 46, and Phil McClure, 53, had Lee and three daughters, Sara, 24, Chelsea, 21 and Megan, before they split up.
Lyn later met and married Ian Rigby and the young man took his stepfather’s name.
The couple went on to have two daughters, Courtney, 11, and Amy, eight. Drummer Rigby married girlfriend Rebecca in her home village of Southowram, near Halifax, in 2007 and the couple had a son Jack, who is now two. The couple are understood to have separated.

Mr Rigby, 54, at times swallowing hard and breathing in to contain his emotions, continued during a: 'Lee was a man who loved people. He had many friends growing up in Middleton and on army duties all over the world.
'He believed life was for living and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
'Courtney and Amy his younger sisters wrote this for Lee: "Rest in Peace Lee, we loved you so much, you didn’t deserve this, you fought for your country and did it well".

Mr Rigby continued: 'We would like to say goodnight Lee, rest in peace our fallen soldier, we love you loads and words cannot describe how loved and sadly missed you will be.
'We would like to thank everybody, the police and army for the amazing support we have received and for all the goodwill wishes we are receiving from all over the country in memory of Lee.
'Our hearts have been ripped apart from us, everyone is struggling to cope with this tragedy, so we would ask the press to respect our privacy to grieve our son’s parting as we try to come to terms with this.
Mr Rigby then read out a poem, a tribute to Lee from an unknown poster on a Facebook page.
It read: 'You fought bravely and with honour died,
'You leave your family so full of pride,
'Sleep well young soldier, your job is done.
'Your war is over, your battle won.
'Our family chain is broken and nothing is the same,
'But as God takes us one by one,
'Our chain will link again.'
Mr Rigby was flanked by his step-son’s wife, who at times covered her face with a handkerchief and to his right his own wife and Lee’s mother, Lyn Rigby.
Lee’s sister, Sara McClure, 24, sat holding her mother’s hand and the family were also joined by
Ray Dutton, another extended family member and Susan Metcalfe, Rebecca’s mother.
Lee’s other sisters Chelsea, Courtney, 11, and Amy, eight, were not present.
The family agreed to take a few questions, but did not want to be asked about politics, racism and the incident itself - still subject to an ongoing police investigation.
Asked how proud Lee was to serve Queen and country, Mr Rigby replied: 'Extremely. He’s always wanted to serve in the Army. He’s been all over, Cyprus, Germany, Jordan.'

“I just can’t tell you how much...”
Drummer Rigby collected teddy bears for his son Jack and the family took one to the press conference, dressed by Lee in the infantry uniform and with the Fusiliers’ trademark feathered ‘hackle’ on the cap.
Serving his country on the battlefields of Afghanistan, Lee Rigby had risked his life facing Taliban bullets and roadside bombs.
Back in Britain after a gruelling deployment in one of the most dangerous places imaginable, he would have been thankful to have emerged unscathed.
But, four years later, on a supposedly safe London high street, the young soldier was brutally cut down in his prime, butchered by crazed Islamic fanatics wielding cleavers and knives.

Known as ‘Riggers’, he joined the Army in 2006 and, after completing his infantry training, was selected for the corps of drums and posted to the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, which is currently based on the island of Cyprus.
In 2009, he deployed to Helmand province where he was a machinegunner with the battalion’s fire support group in Patrol Base Woqab in Sangin, an insurgent hotspot.

His unit arrived in the warzone at the height of the Taliban insurgency and ran a deadly daily gauntlet of firefights and improvised explosive devices.
That year cost 108 British lives – almost a quarter of the 444 UK troops killed in the conflict. Drummer Rigby’s unit lost six men, including one of his close friends in a bomb blast that killed three soldiers.

ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY SAYS HE'S 'HORRIFIED' BY MURDER OF SOLDIER AS MUSLIMS AGAIN CONDEMN BRUTAL KILLING OF LEE RIGBY

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby
The Archbishop of Canterbury today said he was ‘horrified’ by the murder of a soldier in Woolwich.
Justine Welby, 57, (right) called for the community to pull together as he appeared alongside representatives of the Muslim Council of Britain.
The council again condemned the ‘barbaric’ killing by suspected Islamic extremists and said the killers were not acting in God’s name.
Archbishop Welby told Sky News: 'We have all been horrified by the brutal murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich and all of our prayers and mine are with his family, with his colleagues and comrades, and all those who witnessed this crime.’
'I want to recognise the response of churches, mosques and other faith and civil society groups as well as those of brave individuals who have done so much to bring our communities together at this time.
‘The strong response from the Muslim Council of Britain and many other organisations has rightly emphasised that these acts have no place in Islam.’
Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra, the assistant secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain said he was ‘shocked ’ by the killing.
'The Muslim communities of Britain like the rest of the country are shocked and appalled by the horrific murder in Woolwich,’ he said on Sky News.
‘The murderers chanted slogans during their heinous crime, claiming to do it in God's name. Far from it.
‘As our Prime Minister concluded this is a betrayal of Islam. Indeed this is a truly barbaric act that has no basis in Islam and we condemn it utterly and unreservedly.
‘Our thoughts and prayers are with Lee Rigby’s family and friends and especially his two-year-old son.
‘Drummer Rigby was a serving member of the armed forces.  Muslims have long served in this country's armed forces proudly and with honour.
‘This attack on a member of the armed forces is dishonourable and no cause can justify this murder.
‘This crime has heightened tensions throughout the country.  The Muslim Council of Britain calls on all our communities Muslim and non-Muslim to come together in solidarity to ensure the forces of hatred do not prevail'.

'God destined for soldier to die': Radical cleric banned from UK applauds attack as police are urged to investigate inciting hatred

  • Omar Bakri Mohammed is banned from Britain but spoke from Beirut
  • It is believed he was secretly filmed condoning decapitation of those opposed to Islam
  • He said suspect Michael Adebolajo used to listen to his preachings
  • Police urged to monitor radical clerics in Britain to see if comments on Woolwich killing break the law on inciting hatred

A radical Muslim cleric has claimed 'God destined' for British solider Lee Rigby to die in the barbaric terror attack on the streets of Woolwich.
Omar Bakri Mohammed, who is banned from Britain, has given interviews in Lebanon applauding the 'heroes' who slaughtered the 25-year-old in an apparently unprovoked attack on Wednesday.
It comes as the police are urged to monitor closely comments by leading radical clerics in the UK to see if they have broken the law in the days since the attack.

The BBC, ITV and Channel 4 have been condemned for giving airtime to Anjem Choudary and other militant Islamists this week.
Critics say the radical preachers in Britain are carefully 'flying close to the wind' by appearing to support the Woolwich killing without breaking laws on inciting religious hatred.
But Bakri Mohammed, speaking from abroad, has gone much further.
In an interview with The Independent, he said he understood why the suspects would have carried out the barbaric attack on Drummer Lee Rigby.
He said: ‘I saw the film and we could see that he (the suspect) was being very courageous.
‘Under Islam this can be justified, he was not targeting civilians, he was taking on a military man in an operation. To people around here (in the Middle East) he is a hero.’
Bakri Mohammed has even said he knew Adebolajo personally and converted him to Islam.
According to the cleric, who now lives in exile in Lebanon, he owned a stall in London which Adebolajo would visit.
The pair would talk about the ‘meaning of life’ and Adebolajo began attending open talks and meetings.
In a separate interview with Reuters today, he added: I think Michael, or Mujahid, is going to stand for what God has destined for him.
'God destined for him to carry out the attack and God destined for the British soldier to die for the cause he believed in.'
He added that while Muslims in Britain condemned the attack, Muslims in Lebanon are 'proud' of it.

Meanwhile the decision to give Choudary airtime has attracted fierce criticism.
On BBC Newsnight he was challenged over video footage showing Michael Adebolajo, one of Drummer Rigby's suspected killers, attempting to justify the slaughter with an attack on British foreign policy.
Choudary claimed 'what he said in the clip, I think not many Muslims can disagree with'.
Former army officer Tory MP Bob Stewart said he was confident the police were monitoring Choudary closely.
'He was sailing close to the wind but he knew exactly what was saying to make sure he didn't go too far. If he advocates racial killing we have a law against racially aggravated crime.'
Yesterday Mr Stewart, a former Army colonel, said the time had come to tear up human rights laws and deport extremists deemed to be a threat to the public.
He said Labour’s Human Rights Act, which enshrines the European Convention on Human Rights, should be scrapped immediately to allow the authorities to take tougher action against terror suspects and those who encourage them.
Mr Stewart called on Home Secretary Theresa May to begin the process immediately by deporting hate preacher Abu Qatada to his native Jordan, where he faces terrorism charges.
He said the security services should go through the estimated 3,000 terror suspects they are monitoring and take immediate action against any deemed to be a threat.
Mr Stewart, a former commander of UN forces in Bosnia during the Balkans conflict, added: ‘It may not be as democratic as libertarians would like but, I am sorry, we are fighting a war.’

ARRESTS FOR 'RACIST TWEETS'

Two men were arrested yesterday for allegedly sending racist tweets about the murder of the soldier in Woolwich.
Police in Bristol detained the pair after complaints about anti-religious messages which appeared on Twitter within hours of the killing.
Officers say a man aged 23  and another aged 22 were yesterday arrested on suspicion of inciting racial or religious hatred.
She said: ‘We all have a responsibility, including the media, not to give airtime to extremist voices – idiots and nutters who speak for no one but themselves.
‘The heartening thing in the midst of all this tragedy is that the British Muslim community has, with a unified, unreserved voice, condemned the killing and pledged support for our armed forces.
‘This is a real maturing of the community which has taken years of painstaking work and frank discussions behind closed doors.
'This time everyone has stepped up to the mark. Yet here broadcasters are undoing all this by giving a platform to one appalling man who represents nobody. I am really angry.’
Choudary, former head of banned Islamist organisation Al Muhajiroun, was behind the planned protest march in 2010 through Royal Wootton Bassett, the town where dead British soldiers were repatriated.
He has been accused of radicalising Adebolajo – the blood-soaked man who was filmed in the aftermath of the horrific attack berating the British government – in the mid-2000s.
Defence Secretary Jim Murphy said on Twitter: ‘Banned from France but welcome on Newsnight. A mistake of the BBC to invite Anjem Choudary onto the telly tonight.’
Sadiq Khan, Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, also condemned the BBC’s decision, telling LBC radio that the radical was an ‘offensive and obnoxious media tart’ with no followers.

Smile of a fanatic's sister: Bizarre grin of Blessing, 32, as she is led away by police after brother Michael 'hacked British soldier to death'

  • Blessing Adebolajo, 32, escorted from her property in Romford yesterday
  • She smiled as she got into an unmarked police car and was driven away
  • Her brother Michael, 28, is suspected of killing soldier Lee Rigby, 25
  • Neighbours claim the suspect was regularly seen at his sister's house
  • She has not been arrested by police

The sister of the terror suspect accused of hacking a soldier to death smiled yesterday as she was escorted from her home and got into a police car.
Blessing Adebolajo, 32, was led from her property yesterday morning just hours after her brother Michael, 28, was filmed ranting with blood on his hands yards from the body of the murdered soldier in Woolwich.
Blessing was carrying a bag full of clothes as she got into an unmarked police vehicle outside her flat in Romford, Essex, at 8.10am

It is understood she was not arrested, but police will undoubtedly want to question her about her brother who neighbours said was seen regularly at the house.
A woman purporting to be Adebolajo's sister told the Romford Recorder newspaper yesterday: 'We didn't know he was going to do this.'

Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, 22, have been identified as the men suspected of murdering Drummer Lee Rigby.
Blessing - who has also gone by the surname Daniels - lives on the top floor of the property and used to share the home with her terror suspect brother, neighbours told The Times.
Graham Wells, 30, claimed that Adebolajo smoked drugs when he was staying there.

'He liked to smoke a bit of green (marijuana). We played football, a kick-about on the courts. He was a big lad, not the sort of guy you'd want to cross,' he told the newspaper.
'He used to be a normal bloke. he always had a big smile on his face. he'd say "All right Wellsy, all right boy, what's happening?".'
Police also raided a home in Saxilby, Lincolnshire, yesterday which is believed to belong to the terror suspect's father Anthony, 56.
In a chilling rant captured on camera the other side of the road from where drummer Lee Rigby, 25, lay dead, the suspect named as Adebolajo declared: 'The only reason we have killed this man today is because Muslims are dying daily by British soldiers.'

Former schoolfriends of Adebolajo said yesterday he was a 'bright and witty' boy who came from a devoutly Christian family. However, he is understood to have converted to Islam in around 2003.
His mother and father are hard-working Nigerian immigrants from an academic family in West Africa who settled in London in the early 1980s.
Virtually all the friends on his Facebook page have traditional British names such as Louise, Kelly, Robert, Craig, Gemma, Lauren and Paul, to name a few. Among them is Matthew Selt, now a professional snooker player.

He was 'just a lovely, lovely guy', in the words of former classmate Stephen Cavalier – who, as a serving PC in the Metropolitan Police – could scarcely have followed a different path.
Speaking at his home in Essex yesterday, Mr Cavalier said: 'It seems odd to say it now, after the events of yesterday, but I remember him as just a lovely, lovely guy.

He said he was no longer close to Adebolajo, who had requested they become 'Facebook friends' a few years ago.

Throughout the frenzied attack the two killers shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ – Arabic for ‘God is great’ – then demanded horrified witnesses film them as they ranted over the  crumpled body.
The two black men in their 20s, waited calmly for armed police to arrive before charging at officers brandishing a rusty revolver, knives and meat cleavers.
When the old pistol was shot towards police it backfired and blew the thumb off one of the men.
Moments later they were cut down in a hail of bullets believed to be fired by a woman marksman. Last night both men were being treated in hospital for their wounds and will face questioning.

A mother and daughter dubbed the 'Angels of Woolwich' because they bravely risked their own lives by comforting a soldier left dying in the street stepped forward 'because no man should die alone'.
Gemini Donnelly-Martin, 20, and her mother Amanda Donnelly, confronted the suspected killers and asked the attackers if they could be by Drummer Lee Rigby's side.
Their refusal to be cowed by the terrorists won praise from all quarters, including Downing Street.
Although other bystanders watched in horror and police waited helplessly for armed officers to arrive, Gemini modestly insisted her and her mother were not heroes and had done what anyone else would do.
Amanda's son Simeon, 22, said the two women acted out of love.
He said: 'My mother was just driving past and she saw something and wanted to try and help.
'She just showed a bit of motherly love. She just did what any mother would have done.
'She felt that could have been me lying down there in the street. She just felt for the poor guy.
'No man should have to die like that in the street with no-one around him.
'She came home afterwards and she just sat down and had a cup of coffee. But she doesn't want to talk about it. She did what she did and wants to get on with her life again.
'Of course she is upset, it was a gory thing for anyone to see. But she just wants to get on with things.'
Gemini said that they had simply done what they thought was right.
She told the Daily Mirror: 'We did what anyone would do. We just wanted to take care of the man. It wasn't brave. Anyone would have done it. It had to be done. They (the killers) said women could pass.'
'The only thing people need to worry about is that poor man's mum. We are grateful, though, for what people are saying about us.'
When it became apparent Drummer Lee Rigby was beyond their help, they shielded his body from further desecration by his savage attackers.
Amanda, 44, insisted she be allowed to pray for the dead man even when confronted by one of the killer. Kneeling at his side, she cradled him gently, seemingly unfazed by his horrific wounds.
Yesterday Gemini was back searching for work at a local job fair while her mother did not want to talk about what happened.

At the same time, Ingrid Loyau-Kennett remonstrated with the fanatics, despite her fears they would attack again.
The Cub Scout leader and mother of two asked them to hand over their bloodstained weapons and listened to their hate-filled tirade about wanting to ignite ‘war in London’.
She selflessly tried to draw the men’s attention, later saying: ‘Better me than a child.’
Yesterday Mrs Loyau-Kennett, 48, denied suggestions she was a hero, saying: ‘That’s too much. I don’t think I have done anything really extraordinary. I just talked to a guy.’
But there were calls for her as well as Amanda and Gemini to receive honours for their courage.
David Cameron said Miss Loyau-Kennett’s bravery showed how ordinary people could unite to defy extremists.
The Prime Minister said: ‘When told by the attacker he wanted to start a war in London, she replied “You’re going to lose. It’s only you versus many”. She spoke for us all.’

The women’s intervention was made all the more remarkable by the scene of horror they faced.
A pool of blood lay where Drummer Rigby was attacked, and his assailants were covered with gore and still clutching their cleavers and knives.
But witnesses said the first woman, thought to be a highly religious mother in her 50s, did not flinch.
An eyewitness told the Guardian that one of the 'Angels of Woolwich' courageously persuaded the suspected killers to allow her to tend to the wounded.

'This lady whom I met talking with them went on trying to persuade them, and they finally allowed her to attend to the victim,' the eyewitness identified only as Abecham told the newspaper

'She walked to him (the soldier), touched him, and said: "You have killed him," then sat beside him and was rubbing her hand on the victim's back while still saying: "You have killed him".'
Joe Tallant, 20, said: ‘She was so brave, she didn’t care what happened to her – she knelt down by his side and comforted him.
‘She held his hand and put her other hand on his chest. I think she might have been praying.’
Miss Loyau-Kennett, from Helston in Cornwall, was passing in a bus and jumped out to help at what she thought was a road accident.
‘I was sitting on the lower deck and the bus stopped. I could clearly see a body in the road and a crashed car,’ she said.

I trained as a first aider when I was a Brownie leader, so I asked someone to watch my bag and then got off to see if I could help.
‘I went over to the body where there was a lady sitting there and she said he was dead.
‘She had comforted him by putting something under his back and a jacket over his head. I took his pulse and there was none.’
The language teacher, a former ‘snowy owl’ leader with the Brownie Guides, said she became aware of a man standing over them, armed with a gun and a knife.
She said she acted on instinct and began to talk to him, trying to save others from violence.
In interviews with newspapers and broadcasters, she pieced together the vital few moments when she was face to face with the suspect.

POLICE HIT BACK AT CLAIMS THEY TOOK 20 MINS TO REACH SCENE

Police yesterday defended their response to the killing after eyewitnesses claimed they took up to 20 minutes to arrive at the scene.
Assistant Commissioner Simon Byrne, said: 'One point I would like to address is around some of the speculation as to how long it took the Met to respond yesterday (Wednesday) as this incident started to unfold.
'We first received a 999 call from the public at  2.20pm stating a man was being attacked, further 999 calls stated that the attackers were in possession of a gun.
'We had officers at the scene within nine minutes of receiving that first 999 call.
'Once that information about a gun or guns being present was known firearms officers were assigned at 2.24pm.
'Firearms officers were there and dealing with the incident 10 minutes after they were assigned, 14 minutes after the first call to the Met.'
She said: ‘My instincts were just to talk to him, he looked like a normal guy, he wasn’t drunk, he wasn’t high on drugs. ‘He said, “Don’t touch, I killed him”. I said, “Why?” He said, “He’s a British soldier. He killed people. He killed Muslim people in Muslim countries”.
‘I tried to make him talk about how he felt. He said [about] all the bombs dropping and blindly killing women, children.
‘I wanted him to concentrate on me and make sure he doesn’t have a funny idea. There were more and more mothers with children stopping around, so it was even more important I was talking to him and asking him what he wanted.’
Asked if she was scared, she replied simply: ‘No – better me than a child.’
Miss Loyau-Kennett, who is half French, said the man had towered over her, so close he was almost touching her.
She said: ‘I was shocked, I asked him, “Why? What’s the point?” He said, “War in London, there’s war in my country”. He said it was war and if the police were coming, he was going to kill them.’
The Cub Scout leader said the attacker seemed to be ‘in full control of his decisions and ready to do everything he wanted to do’.
Her courage was shown by broadcasters and newspapers around the world, winning her international praise.
Miss Loyau-Kennett was in London for the 23rd birthday of her librarian son Basil Baradaran.
He said: ‘My first thought was for her safety but I could see she was completely intact. I couldn’t believe what she was telling me.
‘I don’t know what was going through her mind or how she found the strength to do what she did but I’m totally awestruck. I’m about as proud as a son could be.’

'She was so brave, she didn’t care what happened to her – she knelt down by his side and comforted him'
Joe Tallant, witness
He said his mother raised him and his sister Pawony, 24, as a single parent after their father returned to France when they were young. He added: ‘She’s caring, loyal and very, very protective.
‘Her incredible maternal instinct must have kicked in when she saw that defenceless man lying there. She could have walked away or stayed on that bus but she was determined to help. She has a real passion for helping people.
‘As amazed as I am by what she did, it’s actually what I’ve come to expect from her.’
Mrs Loyau-Kennett’s actions were praised by the Scout Association.
Wayne Bulpitt, UK Chief Commissioner, said last night: ‘We are very proud of Scout volunteer Ingrid Loyau-Kennett for her calm and measured actions in very difficult circumstances.
‘We are looking to make an award of bravery to her in the fullness of time to recognise her actions.
‘At this time our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim of this terrible crime.’

The soldier killed by two crazed fanatics just yards from the Woolwich Barracks was wearing a Help for Heroes top when he was attacked.
The young serviceman was hit by a car and crushed into a road sign on the street in south-east London before he was brutally murdered.
Video footage showed the dead man was wearing a dark blue top with white writing on it - which is believed to be the same as the Help for Heroes hoodie (right).
The killers attacked him with a collection of weapons including meat cleavers and knives before waiting for police to arrive, their hands covered in blood.
Yesterday members of the public were donating to the charity which helps wounded troops with their rehabilitation.
One man called Allan Beattie who donated to the charity wrote: 'In memory of the soldier brutally murdered yesterday (Wednesday) - rest in peace - and a thank you to all of our brave service men and women who do so much for us'
Kelly Alexander, who also gave to the charity wrote: 'Last night a black cloud went over our country,it will never be the same again,Rip to this young man brutally slain in his home country.I salute you x'

'This is a truly barbaric act that has no basis in Islam': Killers who butchered soldiers are condemned by Muslim groups

Tributes: A woman leaves flowers at the scene following the killing which was condemned by the Muslim Council of Britain
The killers who executed a soldier on a London street were yesterday condemned by Muslim groups for their 'truly barbaric act'.
The Muslim Council of Britain said the killers’ use of 'Islamic slogans' indicated they were motivated by their faith.
A statement from the council said: 'This is a truly barbaric act that has no basis in Islam and we condemn this unreservedly. Our thoughts are with the victim and his family.
'We understand the victim is a serving member of the Armed Forces. Muslims have long served in this country’s Armed Forces, proudly and with honour.
'This attack on a member of the Armed Forces is dishonourable, and no cause justifies this murder.'
The group called for vigilance and solidarity between 'all our communities, Muslim and non-Muslim', and for police to 'calm tensions'.
Akbar Khan from Building Bridges said : 'We totally condemn the killing of an innocent person in Woolwich.
'And we also condemn all forms of extremism wherever they are.
'The thoughts of the Muslim community are with the family of the man who lost his life, and we pray for him.'
Mohammed Shafiq from the Ramadhan Foundation said yesterday: 'I wish to condemn the evil and barbaric crime carried out in Woolwich.
'Our immediate thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims. From whatever angle you see the attack, it was at every level evil.
'We must allow the police to gather all the facts before unnecessary speculation and wait for the facts before determining its impact on our country.
'But what happens in the days to come, London and our nation will come together and will not be divided. The terrorists will never win and succeed in their evil plans.'
Julie Siddiqi, of the Islamic Society of Britain, told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: 'We can’t allow the voices of Nick Griffin and the far right to become louder than ours in the coming days.
'They will say what we have to say and it gives us even more incentive to speak out and come together and not allow people like that to divide us as a country.
'This is one of the most shocking things I have seen in recent years and to have the people of Woolwich have to experience that so close to them, I just feel is absolutely horrific.'

It is not for any Prophet to have captives until he has made slaughter in the land. - 8:67
Allah will humble the unbelievers. Allah and His apostle are free from obligations to idol-worshipers. Proclaim a woeful punishment to the unbelievers. - 9:2-3
When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. - 9:5
Believers! Know that idolators are unclean. - 9:28
Fight those who believe neither in God nor the Last Day, nor what has been forbidden by God and his messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, even if they are People of the Book, until they pay the tribute and have been humbled. - 9:29 (another source: ) The unbelievers are impure and their abode is hell. Believers! Make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Let them find harshness in you. (another source: ) Ye who believe! Murder those of the disbelievers....

Allah has cursed the unbelievers and proposed for them a blazing hell. - 33:60
Unbelievers are enemies of Allah and they will roast in hell. - 41:14

KORAN promises of houris in heaven:
Single-minded slaves of Allah... will be honored in the Gardens of delight, on couches facing one another; A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, white, delicious to the drinkers, wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, pure as they were hidden eggs. - Surah 37:40-49
Lo, for those who ward off evil is a happy journey's end, Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for the, wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink therein. And with them are those of modest gaze, companions. This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning. - 38:50-54
Lo! Those who kept their duty will be in a place secure, amid gardens and water-springs, attired in silk and silk embroidery, facing one another.... And we shall wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. They call therein for every fruit in safety. They taste not death therein, save the first death. And He hath saved them from the doom of hell, a bounty from thy Lord. That is the supreme triumph. - 44:51-57
Lo! Those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight... reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes... and we provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire.... - 52:17-22
...Reclining upon couches lined with silk brocade, the fruit of both the gardens near to hand.... Therein are those of modest gaze, whom neither man nor jinni will have touched before them.... - 55:54-56
Those are they who will be brought nigh, in gardens of delight... reclining therein face to face. There wait on them immortal youths... and fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, like unto hidden pearls, reward for what they used to do.... Lo! We have created them a creation, and made them virgins, lovers, friends. - 56:11-37
