It's official: Obama '1st gay president'
Newsweek gives Barack outlandish title with rainbow halo
Despite the fact Barack Obama is married with two children, Newsweek magazine is dubbing him “The First Gay President” on its latest cover, crowning him with a rainbow-colored halo.
The cover comes in the wake of Obama’s newly declared support for homosexual marriage in America.

The edition, which hits newsstands Monday, features a column by Andrew Sullivan, an openly homosexual self-titled conservative political pundit.
“When you step back a little and assess the record of Obama on gay rights, you see, in fact, that this was not an aberration. It was an inevitable culmination of three years of work,” Sullivan said in a statement about his article.
“He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family,” he wrote, discussing similarities between the president and the homosexual community.
Obama’s declaration that he’s now backing same-sex marriages is the first time a sitting president has expressed such an opinion.
“It’s easy to write off President Obama’s announcement of his support for gay marriage as a political ploy during an election year. But don’t believe the cynics,” representatives from Newsweek told Politico.
Obama’s announcement came just days after Vice President Joe Biden indicated he was “absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and men and women marrying are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties.”
Newsweek has a history of controversial covers.
On Dec. 15, 2008, it featured a Holy Bible with a rainbow-colored bookmark, with an associated article titled, “The Religious Case for Gay Marriage.”
This week’s cover is prompting a lot of reaction online already.
“This is the best,” said Wilder Napalm of Louisville, Ky. “The left wing media is doing everything in their power to portray this as a good thing for Obama when in fact this is a disaster. He never had any intention of openly supporting gay marriage, if he did he would have done in long ago. But good old Joe stepped in it again. He left Obama no choice but to support gay unions or risk losing the support of the gay community. I’ll bet Obama could kill Biden about now.”
“I am surprised,” says John Wolf of St. Louis. “Newsweek has six subscribers? I dropped them when they made up stuff for Obama during the election.
And Larry in California noted: “Clinton was our first black president, according to author Toni Morrison. And Chris Matthews says we can’t vote Obama out because he’s our first black president. I’m confused. Is Obama our first black president, or our first gay president, or our first affirmative-action president?”

In a gutsy move, Newsweek has released the cover of their next issue, on the cover of which they depict President Obama with a rainbow halo and the title of 'The First Gay President'.
The news-magazine, which hits stands Monday, is using the shock factor of labeling the straight, married, father-of-two President to draw attention to itself.
Tina Brown, who heads the magazine and it's sister website The Daily Beast, is known for her appreciation of controversial covers to help boost public interest and sales.

Controversial: Newsweek released their cover early, likely hoping to drum up attention for their next issue and their same-sex marriage coverage
After Time magazine went with a cover shot of a young blonde mother breastfeeding her 3-year-old boy, Ms Brown is said to have taken it in stride, saying 'let the games begin!'
The article accompanying the cover was written by the news magazine's regular blogger, Andrew Sullivan, who is an openly gay self-titled conservative political pundit.
'When you step back a little and assess the record of Obama on gay rights, you see, in fact, that this was not an aberration. It was an inevitable culmination of three years of work,' Mr Sullivan said in a statement about the article.
'He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family,' he wrote, describing the similarities between Mr Obama and the gay community.

Historic: President Obama made his announcement in a taped interview with Good Morning America's Robin Roberts on Wednesday
There was little doubt that Newsweek would be covering the President's historic announcement that he supports same-sex marriage after he had a sit-down television interview confirming what many already believed to be the case.
This was, however, the first time that a sitting President had done so, and the magazine asserts that such a move was a calculated one that had been thoroughly planned.
'It’s easy to write off President Obama’s announcement of his support for gay marriage as a political ploy during an election year. But don’t believe the cynics,' representatives from the news magazine told Politico in a statement about the article.
President Obama's announcement came several days after Vice President Joe Biden said that he was 'absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and men and women marrying are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties.'

Made up: Mr Biden (left) and Mr Obama (right), appearing at an event on Saturday, have since moved past Mr Biden's rushed statement in support of same-sex marriage
The move, thought to be a misstep as he made his opinion known before Mr Obama publicly declared his, was criticized by many within the administration and outside of the White House.
'Would I have preferred to have done this in my own way, in my own terms, without I think, there being a lot of notice to everybody? Sure,' Mr Obama said in the ABC. 'But all's well that ends well.'
On the day of the President's interview, Mr Biden is said to have had a private meeting in the Oval Office where in he apologized for his overstep.
Republicans, the vast majority of whom are against gay marriage, said that Mr Obama simply made his historic announcement in an effort to gain support among liberal voters in the lead up to the general election.
'While President Obama has played politics on this issue, the Republican Party and our presumptive nominee Mitt Romney have been clear,' Republican national committee chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.
'We support maintaining marriage between one man and one woman and would oppose any attempts to change that.'

Obama's $150,000 'BRIBE': His campaign team 'paid Rev Wright to stay quiet during 2008 campaign'

Reverend Jeremiah Wright caused problems for President Barack Obama's campaign in 2008, and new details have emerged alleging that the then-candidate tried to convince his former pastor to keep quiet.
The retired pastor, who came under fire after an old sermon where he said that the September 11 terrorist attacks were 'America's chickens coming home to roost', said that he was offered $150,000 to stay silent until the election was over.
Journalist Edward Klein interviewed Mr Wright and included their conversation in his new book, The Amateur.

Close ties: A controversial sermon by Rev. Jeremiah Wright (right) caused political problems for then-presidential candidate Barack Obama (left)
'After the media went ballistic on me, I received an email offering me money not to preach until the November presidential election,' Mr Wright told the author, as relayed by The New York Post.
Mr Wright said that 'one of Barack's closest friends' sent an email to a member of the church saying that he would pay $150,000 for the pastor to keep quiet for fear of saying something incendiary.
He said that following the incident, the then-candidate Mr Obama requested a private, secret meeting with the Reverend to make a personal plea.
Mr Wright said that, while he wasn't sure whether or not Mr Obama was wearing a wire, they met and discussed their options.

Damage control: After Rev Wright's sermon went viral, Mr Obama gave a speech condemning Mr Wright's political remarks
'And one of the first things Barack said was, "I really wish you wouldn’t do any more public speaking until after the November election,"' Mr Wright told Mr Klein.
'He knew I had some speaking engagements lined up, and he said, "I wish you wouldn’t speak. It’s gonna hurt the campaign if you do that."'

Mr Obama, who was in the midst of navigating the ensuing political storm that occurred after Rev. Wright's comments went public, hoped to stem the tide by getting his long-time family friend to ease off until Election Day.
'Barack said, "I’m sorry you don’t see it the way I do. Do you know what your problem is?" And I said, "No, what’s my problem?" And he said, 2You have to tell the truth." I said, "That’s a good problem to have. That’s a good problem for all preachers to have. That’s why I could never be a politician,"' Mr Wright said in the interview.
Mr Obama went into damage-control mode after the video of the sermon went viral, and delivered a well-received speech on the racial state of America.
In the speech, called 'A More Perfect Union', Mr Obama criticized the political views of Mr Wright but tried to balance his personal history with the man and his controversial thoughts.
'I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy,' Mr Obama said in the March speech.
'I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community.'

Obama's wife need not be jealous of women when Michelle or Michael should keep a watchful eye on him with men. Obama made a slip one day and called Michelle Michael! Hummm maybe I am right the First lady is a First Dude.
The 'jealous' First Lady: How Michelle orders women close to Barack watched and has shunned Oprah because she 'hates fat people'

Michelle Obama orders women close to her husband to be watched in case he cheats on her like John F Kennedy did to his wife, a new book claims.
The First Lady is supposedly ‘unusually jealous’ and has so little trust in Barack Obama that she turns up unannounced during the day to see what he is doing.
She also objected to her husband’s close relationship to U.S. chat show queen Oprah Winfrey - and shunned her because she ‘hates fat people’.

Friendly foes: Sources told the author that Michelle (right) is jealous of Barack's closeness with Oprah (left)

Keeping up appearances: Because Oprah's say means a significant amount of votes, the Obamas put aside their growing frustrations and appeared on one of the host's final shows
The explosive claims are likely to feed the image of Mrs Obama as an ‘angry black woman’, a label she herself dismissed earlier this year.
They could also reopen questions about the Obama's marriage of 20 years as in the past they reportedly rowed a lot and came close to splitting up.
In ‘The Amateur’, American author Edward Klein’s book about Mr Obama’s first term, he claims that Mrs Obama’s ‘obsessive’ behaviour is the talk of the White House.
Portions of the book that were released to The New York Post tells of quotes from a source close to Miss Winfrey as saying: ‘Michelle is very jealous, I would say unusually so.
‘Most people after years of marriage have trust and don’t follow their husbands around and check on them.
‘Michelle doesn’t seem to trust Barack at all. She insists on knowing his every movement and drops in on him at all kinds of odd times.

Warring women: Though publicly close, inside sources report that Michelle feels threatened by Oprah, and has tried to distance herself and her husband from the former Queen of Daytime

Sidelined: Oprah campaigned with Mr Obama during the 2008 election and he is hoping she will do the same this year
‘Michelle makes it clear to her inner circle...that she wants women around Barack watched and wants info about who he has an eye for and gets touchy with.
‘The thing is, she knows, like everybody, about JFK’s shenanigans, and she thinks, hey, JFK was young and good looking like my guy.’
By the time he was assassinated in 1963 Mr Kennedy had become as famous for his extra marital liaisons as he was for being President.
In her memoir former White House intern Mimi Alford recalled how Mr Kennedy eyed her up in the White House pool then had sex with her in the bedroom he shared with his wife.
Mr Kennedy also supposedly had sex with Marlene Dietrich in the Oval office and famously romanced Marilyn Monroe - amongst many others.
In ‘The Amateur’ Mr Klein claims that relations between Miss Winfrey and Mrs Obama took a nosedive over the chat show host’s close relationship with Mr Obama.

Portrait: The new book was written by Edward Klein, the former editor-in-chief of the New York Times Magazine
The book claims that in the weeks after the 2008 U.S. election victory Mr Obama gave Miss Winfrey’s advice ‘priority over Michelle’s’
Mr Klein writes: ‘When she (Winfrey) phoned, he dropped everything and took her call. They huddled over strategy. Of all of Obama’s unofficial White House advisers, Oprah had unparalleled access, input, influence, and power.’
Mr Klein quotes a White House insider who says that Mrs Obama was ‘furious’ about her husband’s late night phone calls to Miss Winfrey and that he should be turning to her for advice instead.
Another sticking point was that Mrs Obama thought that Miss Winfrey had urged Hillary Clinton to run in the election against her husband.
When she grew sick of being rejected, specifically in her offer to help with Mrs Obama's campaign against obesity, Miss Winfrey is supposed to have screamed out to a friend: ‘Michelle hates fat people and doesn’t want me waddling around the White House!’
In extracts already made public Mr Klein’s book also claims that former U.S. President Bill Clinton once branded Mr Obama ‘an amateur’ and too incompetent to hold office.
Mr Clinton has strongly denied the claims.
Nobody from the White House was available for comment.

Why is everyone staring at Michelle Obama’s lap?

The scene was last week’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner. A crowd gathers to stare at Michelle Obama’s lap.
Our theory about what they’re staring at explained below.
It’s pretty well known that Michelle wears the pants in the White House. Now we think we know why.
In the words of Mrs. IHateTheMedia.com Editor, “Oh, my god. Looks like man candy to me.”
