Is Michelle Obama's spending 'spiralling out of control'? First Lady 'insisted on $4m trip to Hawaii when her husband wanted local vacation'
- Barack Obama 'wanted trip to Camp David, Maryland'
- But his wife 'didn't want to disappoint their daughters'
- 'Had a pre-holiday shopping spree': National Enquirer

Michelle Obama insisted on a pricey holiday to Hawaii when her husband would have rather gone to a presidential retreat, according to reports.
She allegedly wanted the taxpayer-funded $4million trip when Barack Obama sought instead to make the short trip to Camp David in Maryland.
Political sources told the National Enquirer that the 47-year-old’s spending is rocketing and she even went on a shopping spree before the Hawaii trip.

Disagreement? Michelle Obama, left, reportedly wanted the
$4million Hawaii trip when Barack Obama sought instead to go to Camp David in
Maryland
‘Barack read his wife the riot act, but his words fell on deaf ears. Michelle said there was “no way” she was going to disappoint her daughters.’
The First Family has already attracted criticism as their annual vacation in Hawaii this year is likely to be their most expensive ever.
The President will travel separately to his family this time because he wants resolve the payroll tax cut issue before leaving Washington D.C.

Mr Obama himself was seen buying pizzas from the Del Ray Pizzeria back in Alexandria as he spends time at home without his family.
Mrs Obama took the children last weekend in a flight that cost an extra $100,000 - and her husband’s round-trip journey will be $3,271,611.

But his family is covering the cost of a private beach front residence in Kailua, Oahu, which costs up to $3,500 a day, or $75,000 a month.
It is not yet known exactly when President Obama will fly out to Hawaii, with the death of North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Il likely delaying his trip further.

Michelle Obama has 'Bo envy': First Lady says she wants to come back as pampered White House dog
By Beth StebnerLast updated at 1:44 AM on 23rd December 2011
Michelle Obama has Bo envy.
The First Lady revealed to Barbara Walters in an upcoming 20/20 special that if she were to die and come back as anything – person or thing – she’d want to come back as the First Dog, Bo.
‘He’s got a great life,’ Mrs Obama said of the three-year-old black and white dog. ‘He’s got it good.’

A dog's life: Michelle Obama told Barbara Walters she
would come back as family dog Bo in her next life

Dog days: She said the First Dog has it good
The Portuguese water dog does indeed have it good. Yesterday, the First Dog got $41 worth of gifts from PetSmart.
There are also rumours circulating that Bo was flown to Hawaii for the Obama’s family vacation and then flown back to Washington for a trip to PetSmart with Mr Obama.
Various reports contradict whether or not he was flown back to Washington or even in Hawaii at all.
Regardless, the First Dog has been flown to Hawaii before on family vacations - a luxury not afforded by many pet owners.

Living the life: Bo Obama gets to accompany the First
Family on holiday
In a December 15 interview with People magazine, Mr Obama said Bo has the best job in the White House, second only to Mrs. Obama.
During the exclusive interview set to air on Christmas Eve, ABC News’ Barbara Walters used questions made famous by Marcel Proust, a 19th century French author.
WHAT FRUSTRATES A PRESIDENT?
When Barbara Walters asked President Obama
what trait he most deplores in himself, he responded: ‘Laziness. Nothing
frustrates me more than when people aren’t doing their jobs.’
The comment is especially relevant as Mr Obama is fighting tooth and nail for an extension on the payroll tax cut. He and House Speaker John Boehner have famously clashed on the issue.
On Thursday, the president called Washington ‘dysfunctional.’ He added: ‘What’s happening right now is exactly why people get so frustrated with Washington.’

The questionnaire delved into questions on their individual traits, virtues, and misconceptions.
Mr Obama said the biggest misconception about him is that he is ‘Spock-like’ – that is to say, ‘very analytical.’
He continued: ‘People who know me know that I am a softie.’
The interview also revealed conflicting marital views. When asked what the biggest pet peeve about each other was, the Obamas – who will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year – couldn’t have answered more differently.
Mr Obama said he didn’t have one for Michelle.
But Mrs Obama, on the other hand, had plenty. ‘My list is too long,’ she told Barbara Walters.
The full interview will air Friday at 10pm ET on ABC.

Forget the payroll tax discussions - as
there's only one question occupying the minds of the Washington's elite right
now.
Did Barack Obama's dog Bo fly back just days after his Hawaiian holiday began so he could take part in a presidential photo call?
It was quite clear from photos of President Obama’s Christmas shopping trip on Wednesday that the First Dog was by his side in Washington D.C.
And an island eyewitness said he saw the Portuguese Water Dog taken for a walk earlier this week, ahead of President Obama’s delayed arrival.
A mistake could have been made by all three news outlets who reported the dog went to Hawaii, reported the White House Dossier blog.
But a mystery is presented if at least one of the Chicago Sun-Times, Hawaii TV station KHON 2 and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser were correct.
‘The family and first dog Bo arrived at Joint
Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam’ reported the Honolulu Star-Advertiser earlier this
week.
This could even suggest Bo was flown back to Washington D.C. for the President’s photo call at PetSmart in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday.
The White House Dossier blog speculated that he could have come back on the plane that first took Mrs Obama out to Hawaii on Saturday.
The bill for the $4million trip rose by $100,000 when Mrs Obama decided to take Sasha and Malia early while her husband sorts out the economy.
The National Enquirer even reported Bo is
flown to holidays on a separate plane with Secret Service agents, but this has
not been verified.
President Obama took Bo on a shopping trip to PetSmart on Wednesday where he bought two items including a dog bone with a $50 bill.
The First Family will return home on January 1. It is not yet known whether Bo will go with President Obama when he flies out to Hawaii.
They are covering the cost of a private beach front residence in Kailua, Oahu, which costs up to $3,500 a day, or $75,000 a month.
