Earlier this week, President Obama gave yet another speech about our debt and deficit. Unfortunately, he failed to produce a serious proposal that would address our debt crisis and or help put people back to work. The $4.4 trillion plan includes more than $3 trillion in budget gimmicks, $1.5 trillion in ill-advised tax increases and produces very little in actual savings. It’s a plan that doesn’t even have support from members of the President’s own party and has virtually no chance of passing Congress. Our debt crisis is a serious issue that merits serious solutions, and this plan does nothing but satisfy the President’s political base. I look forward to proposals put forth by the Congressional Supercommittee later this year, as they have been tasked with identifying real cuts that will make a true difference.
